Area of Study: Applied Industrial Technology (Floorlaying) Apprenticeship Program
Degree/Certificate: Associate of Applied Science degree in Applied Industrial Technology with a concentration in Floorlaying
Academic School: Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Computer Science
Students must be currently working in a registered apprenticeship program in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.
The apprenticeship program prepares the student to work as a journey-level Floorlayer, as well as earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree. A 4-year apprenticeship emphasizes the skill set required to be a highly skilled craftsman. The Floorlayer cuts, fits and installs hardwood flooring and various types of underlayment to insure smooth, level surfaces for a finished floor, scribes, cuts, fits, layout and seam tile and sheet goods. Also is an expert at cutting, binding, sewing and installing carpet.
